News from Our Room For the Week of November 7, 2022 Dear Families, We have a busy week ahead. On Thursday and Friday we’ll learn more about Veterans Day and write letters to veterans in our community. Please let me know if you have a family member or friend who is a veteran and would enjoy a letter. Reading Students will examine the dialogue in fiction stories and notice different character’s points of view. We’ll read a play together and compare the text to other fiction books. During our workshop time, readers will practice reading carefully to identify the plot of a story. Writing Writers will practice thinking and planning before writing. After reading about a colorful character in a fiction story, students will make up their own character and show the character’s traits in their story. Word Study Students will practice writing verbs in the past tense form. We will also learn about homophones such as sea and see and meet and meat. Math Students will continue to practice 3 digit subtraction with regrouping in the ones, tens and hundreds place. We’ll use base ten blocks to show the regrouping process. Social Studies/Science Students will learn more about the oak forest habitat and the creatures that live there. . We’ll learn about Veterans Day and write letters to veterans in our community. We will not have school on Tuesday, November 8, because of Election Day. Have a great week! Kathy |
